Among the countless damage that all pipelines accompany one of the devastating problems is that the Tar sands will increase Sulphur Dioxide released into atmosphere (Sulphur Dioxide is mostly released from burning fossil fuels/smelting) which leads to acid rain. PH levels are raised by acid rain in lakes where organisms are most sensitive to pH levels as increased acidity dissolves calcium deposits. Acidic snow melts in spring and pours into rivers creating Acid Shock and creates calcium-deficient deformities in salmon and also cause failure for the salmon to spawn. Acid rain removes nutrients from soils by displacing nutrients and also by attaching to aluminium which creates a ‘glue’ that moves into river systems and causes aluminium poisoning.
